Gadchiroli July 16 (District Correspondent) Known for his innovative ideas and pro-people programmes, Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad Kumar Ashirwad, this time, reached a remote tribal village walking through mud and talked to the women to ascertain whether government schemes are being properly executed or not.

To make the women economically self sufficient by providing them self-employment, government has been implementing a programme ‘Umed’ through ‘Maharashtra State Rural Livelihood Mission’ (MSRLM). A team of community workers has also been appointed all over the district for the execution of this programme.

To personally review one such programme in Mulchera taluka, Mr. Ashirwad and talked to the women beneficiaries of the various self-help groups (SHGs) and understood their problems. He also inspected the projects started by the groups and gave some suggestions.

The CEO then proceeded towards a tank in Gomni village walking through muddy road where a fish-seed production project is going to be started by the women’s group federation and inspected the tank. He also inspected the poultry in the village and held dialogue with the concerned women members.

The women also discussed with the officer with open mind and put forward their grievances and problems urging him to look into them.

As many as 279 SHGs and 16 village federations are working in Mulchera taluka and they are being provided various facilities under Umed project. Various livelihood activities and individual as well as community projects are being taken up in the taluka.

Mr. Kumar was accompanied by Mr. bhuyar, Dy. CEO, Prafulla Bhopaye, district Manager of Umed, Ravindra Mohurle, Taluka Manager, Bhushan Deogade, Deepak Sahare, Ms. Kamindra kumre and others during this tour.
