Gadchiroli May 13 (District Correspondent) Gadchiroli MLA Dr. Milind Narote paid a visit to the Gondwana University, inspected the different departments and asked the University authorities to focus on the quality education and issues of the students.

Dr. Narote took a round of the University campus during this visit which revealed the stark reality that academic standards at this district’s premier educational institute have ‘completely collapsed’. Expressing deep outrage, it was observed that beyond mere rhetoric regarding multi-crore funding and grand announcements, ordinary students are, in reality, left with nothing but disappointment, according to a statement released by the office of the MLA.

During the inspection, a shocking reality came to light that the laboratories across various departments are in an extremely dilapidated state and suffer from a severe shortage of equipment and materials. Due to the absence of expert supervisors, the laboratories are on the verge of being shut down.
Seeing the poor state of the ground situation, Dr. Narote asked a furious question as to how are students expected to conduct practical experiments without the necessary equipment? While student enrolment continues to decline steadily, the administration, instead of engaging in introspection, remains preoccupied with evading its responsibilities by citing technical excuses, alleged the MLA.

The University administration must cease merely engaging in bureaucratic formalities on paper and, instead, focus immediately on improving infrastructure and facilities to elevate academic standards, he directed. The administration must take every precaution to ensure that the students of the district do not fall behind because of the administrative negligence, he said.

Dr. Narote also conducted a firsthand inspection of the student hostel which left overwhelmed with indignation at the appalling conditions he witnessed. During the interaction, the students recounted a litany of complaints regarding the poor quality of food and the grave issues plaguing the mess facilities. Taking cognizance of the students’ grievances, the MLA immediately inspected the kitchen area, where the situation was truly abysmal.
On witnessing the sight of food discarded in the open, cooking vessels left exposed within the mess, and filth strewn everywhere the MLA asked how can the university administration remain so indifferent toward the health and well-being of its students? Any further negligence regarding the student mess contracts or maintenance will absolutely not be tolerated, he warned.

The administration was pulled for its complete failure to ensure quality education and to effectively implement schemes such as PM-USHA. Pointing out the significant lack of planning in university programs, it was told that the university must serve as a hub for academic discipline and quality, rather than merely a centre for ‘event-centric theatrics. The immediate, concrete steps be taken to elevate the standard of education, rather than limiting to the distribution of degrees, it was warned.

Present during the visit were BJP State Secretary Ramesh Bhurse, District Vice President Bharat Khatti, Registrar Dr. Anil Hirekan, Senate Members Satish Chichghare, Rupendra Gaur, Swarupji Targe, and Arun Prakash.
