Gadchiroli July 13 (District correspondent) District shiv Sena Chief Wasudeo Shedmake has demanded taluka status to Pendhri and Ashti villages in the district.
Mr. Shedmake met the former Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader Uddhao Thakre at Mumbai recently and submitted him a memorandum in this regard besides various demands of the district.
Both these villages are around 70 kilometres away from the taluka head quarters of Dhanora by road and is covered by dense forest. The area is backward and naxal affected which makes the people very troublesome to visit the taluka pace for their routine works. There has been a demand to make Pendhri a taluka for the last many years. Pendhri should therefore be given taluka status, Shedmake demanded.
Ashti also is a big place and the people of this area have to go to Chamorshi for their government related works which is very troublesome for them. If this place is made new taluka, it will be easy for the people from Ashti and nearby area to get their works done, Shedmake pointed out.
The other demands include ownership rights to the forest land encroachers, early repairing of Ashti-Allapalli- Sironcha as well as Etapalli-Kasansur- Jarawandi roads as they have been damaged badly, early laying down of Wadsa-Gadchiroli railway line and further extension of the railway to Sironcha and Telangana, providing regular power supply and construction of power sub-station at Pendhri etc.
Mr. Riyaz Sheikh, President of Aheri Region, Dr. Ramkrishna Madavi, ex MLA, Vijay Shrungarpawar, Vilas Kodap, Sunil Poreddiwar, Rajendra Lanjekar, Kiran shedmake, Raju Ambani, Ghanshyam Kolte, Bandu Naitam, Ankit Manthanwar, Praveen Satpute, Wasudeo Warwade and others were also present on the occasion.
