Gadchiroli July 13 (District correspondent) Director of Search Padmashri and Maharashtra Bhushan Dr. Abhay Bang has been conferred honorary doctorate degrees by Kaziranga University of Assam.

The degree was awarded in the convocation ceremony for the academic year 2023-24 held at Kaziranga University Jorhat the other day at the hands of the Chief Minister of Assam Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The entire world has taken cognizance of the work of Padma Shri and Maharashtra Bhushan awardee Dr. of Abhay Bang and Dr. Rani Bang being done in the health sector. New York’s Time magazine has given the honour of ‘Global Health Hero’ to Dr. Bang. The couple was recently honoured with the prestigious Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Award at Kolhapur.

The Bang couple has been staying in backward areas like Gadchiroli and working to improve health services there. Their work is not limited to a hospital only, it is becoming useful in villages in the country and abroad.

Acknowledging the work of Abhay Bang and Rani Bang, they have been awarded so far with many awards. Former President of ISRO Padmashri Dr. S. Kiran Kumar, Eminent Sarod player Padma Vibhushan Amjad Ali Khan, Bharat Ratna C. N. R. Rao, Padma Bhushan Mary Kom, renowned researcher Padmashri Dr. Uddhav Bharali, Padma Bhushan Abhinav Bindra, India’s Forest Man Padmashri Jadav Payeng, IIT Guwahati Director Dr. Gautama Barua, spiritual leader Gauranga Prabhu, Scientific Adviser to the Ministry of Defence Dr. G. Satish Reddy, Former DGCISR Dr. R. A. Mashelkar and India’s water manager Dr. Rajendra Singh have been been honored so far by the Kaziranga University.
