Gadchiroli June 15 (District correspondent) The parents of one Leena Undirwade have demanded impartial probe into the suspicious death of their daughter and stern action against her husband and other in-laws.
Addressing a press conference at the Press Club here on Tuesday Mr. Uddhao Walde, father of the deceased woman, a resident of village Jankapur (Rith) in Chandrapur district told that Leena was married to one Giridhar Undirwade of Chamorshi on March 15, 2021. After some days of the marriage, Giridhar and other family members including his parents, brother and sister-in-law started demanding dowry and torturing her. However, I could not fulfil the demand because of my poor financial condition.
On April 2, 2023, I received a call from the Undirwade family that Leena had consumed poison upon which I rushed to the District Hospital of Gadchiroli along with my wife and son. By the time we reached the hospital, Leena was already dead, told Mr. Walde further.
I lodged the complaint with the Chamorshi Police Station in this regard seeking action against the husband and other in laws of Leena. I have also complained the matter to the SP and SDPO of Gadchiroli but so far, no any action has been taken, said Walde.
The post-mortem report of Leena has clearly said that the death has occurred due to poison but police are not taking any action against the in laws of Leena even after two and half months of the incident, told Walde. My daughter was poisoned to death by her husband and in-laws, he added. Terming it a very serious case, Walde demanded immediate action against the husband and other in laws of Leena for her death.
Also present at the press conference were Ms. Pushpa Walde, mother, Milind Walde, brother and Anandrao Tembhurne, uncle of the deceased Leena.
