Konsari villagers seek facilities at Llyod Metals’ hearing.

Gadchiroli July 9 (District Correspondent) The management of Lloyds Metal and Energy Company which is raising a huge steel plant at village Konsari in Chamorshi taluka has promised the villagers in the area to ensure that all the necessary precautions will be taken to ensure environment and provide the facilities to the villagers.

This promise was given during the public hearing that was held at village Konsari on Friday in presence of the villagers and Sarpanchas, Dy. Sarpanchas of the adjoining 7 villages.

District Collector Sanjay Meena, Additional Collector Dhanaji Patil, Hema Deshpande, Executive Officer of Pollution Control Board, Managing Director of Lloyds Metals D. Prabhakaran were prominently present. Gadchiroli- Chimur Lok Sabha MP Ashok Nete, MLA Dr. Deorao Holi, former MLA Deepakdada Atram were also especially present for this public hearing.

The chimney of this project will be 110 meters high, the polluted water of the project will not be released in the river, multi-speciality hospital will be started for health services, compensation of the required land will be given as per government rules, proposal to start ITI for the skilled workers will be sent to the government were some of the important promises given by the company during the hearing.

At the outset, Mr. Jeevan Hedau, General Manager of the company gave the details of the project through his introductory speech and appealed the people to cooperate for running the project. Mr. Shrikant Pawde, Sarpanch of Konsari,  Nilkanth Nikhade, Sarpanch of Somanpalli, Ms. Deepali Soyam, Jitendra Uike, Sanjay Patrojwar and many others put forward the problems of the villagers and their expectations from the Company.

The villagers demanded that free electricity and pure drinking water be supplied to them, it should be ensured that no health of farmers and villagers is affected due to pollution arising out of the project, land required for the project should be purchased with increased rates, local people be given employment, skill training be given to them, basic facilities like education, health, roads etc be provided etc.

Mr. Hedau replied all the queries and cleared the doubts. Public utility things will be provided to the people through CSR and necessarily follow up will be made to the government agencies for the other matters, he told.

Mr. Ashok Nete and Dr. Deorao holi also expressed their views during this hearing and assured full cooperation to the company for the employment of the local people. They also thanked Mr. Prabhakaran for starting this project at Konsari village and bringing the district on the industrial map.

The public hearing was conducted in a peaceful manner.
