Gadchiroli July 9 (District Correspondent) Kaziranga University, Assam announced Honorary Doctorate to Director of SEARCH, Padmashri and Maharashtra Bhushan awardee Dr. Abhay Bang.
, Dr. Bang will be honoured in the 9 th convocation ceremony to be held at Kaziranga University in Jorhat which will be held on July 11 next. Dr. Bang has been invited as the chief guest for this convocation ceremony. The convocation will be presided over by Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The Assam Kaziranga University was established in 2012 by the Khetan Industrial Group to provide quality education to students and develop a new cadre of professionals and entrepreneurs. Located in Jorhat, Assam, it is one of the largest private universities in the entire North East India.
Recently Dr. Abhay bang and Dr. Rani Bang have been honoured with the Chhatrapati Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Award. Dr Bang and his organization SEARCH has conducted several path breaking studies which have shaped national and global policies. They have developed a new approach, ‘Home-based New-born and Child Care,’. This research has been selected as one of the milestones and was published in the Lancet in the past 180 years to be included in the Vintage Papers from Lancet. This approach has been replicated in ten countries, and is scaled up nationally by the Government of India.
Dr. Bang lives in backward areas like Gadchiroli and works to improve the tribal health services there. Abhay and Rani Bang’s work is not limited to a hospital, but is becoming useful in villages, at home and abroad.
