Gadchiroli Sept. 11 (District correspondent) 139 kilograms of Ganja worth Rs. 20.99 lakhs was seized by the Murumgaon police in Dhanora taluka yesterday.

According to police, API Mithun Sirsat, from Police Help Centre, Murumgaon received reliable information that 3 unidentified persons are heading towards Gadchiroli via Savargaon-Murumgaon from Chhattisgarh with a Ganja in their silver-coloured Honda CT car no. MH-04-CM-2515. Accordingly, a trap was laid in front of the bus station of the Murumgaon on the road leading towards Katezri.

When the car was stopped and inspected, 3 bags of yellow colour, silver colour, and white colour were found in the car, with a total weight of 138 kg, 580 grams of narcotic drug (marijuana). Estimated Price of the material was Rs.13,85,800. The four-wheeler used in the said crime was costed at Rs.  7,00000 and the mobile phones recovered from the two accused amounted to Rs. 13,000 making a total cost of the seizure to Rs.20,98,800.

The car was taken to the Police Help Centre Murumgaon and accused Umar Faiyaz Ahmed Shaikh, age 28 years, Occupation – Driver, Raza Chowk Gopal Election Govandi Mumbai-43, Rakesh Raju Varpety, age- 26 Years, Occupation-labourer, resident of Siddharth Residen Sewasangha, Tatanagar, Shivajinagar, Mumabai, Shahbaz Sarwar Khan, Aged-27 Years, Profession- Driver, resident of   Subhashnagar, Chembur Mumbai.

Due to the effective action of Gadchiroli Police Force till now a total of 416 kg 359 gm of narcotics worth approximately Rs. 51.92 lakhs has been seized by the police. The Gadchiroli police force has succeeded in seizing high-value ganja. Further investigation of the said crime is being conducted by API Mithun Sirsat, Officer-in-Charge of Murumgaon.

The said operation was conducted under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Mr. Nilotpal, Additional Superintendent of Police (Campaign) Anuj Tare, Additional Superintendent of Police, Aheri Yatish Deshmukh and Sub Divisional Police Officer Dhanora Mayur Bhujbal by  Police Help Center under the leadership of Murumgaon Officer API Mithun Sirsat, PSI Rahul Chowdhury, Hawaldar Nanaji Pittulwar, Police Amaldars -Dilip Lambuwar, Tarachand Mohurle, Valmik Kotangale, Vinesh Mandhare, Nitin Madavi and State Reserve Police Force Group no. 05 officials Police Hawaldar Vaijinath Madane, Police Amaldar Dilip Kale, Deepak Jadhav and CRPF-113 Bn.  Police Inspector Mohan Singh and other employees.

To curb illegal drug trafficking and other illegal businesses in Gadchiroli district, the Superintendent of Police Shri. Nilotpal has asked the police stations and posts in the district to take stringent action against those involved in the business.
