Gadchiroli July 12 (District Correspondent) Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is all set to provide 4 G services in the rural areas of the district.

According to officials in the local BSNL office here, a survey of as many as 208 villages which were deprived of the 4 G services, has already been conducted by the Company very recently and the actual work of raising the towers laying down the cables for these villages has been started.

The company wants to connect all these villages with 4 G by the end of 2024 by which the people in rural areas too will be able to avail the facilities of internet and mobile phone connectivity.

The process of acquiring land for the towers and machinery along with solar panels to ensure uninterrupted power supply. The forest authorities are also being approached for the land in its possession for raising the towers and related equipment, it was told.

The existing 165 sites with 2 G services will be upgraded into 4 G, besides the new services that will also become useful for the people to avail the latest facilities and services related to communication. Besides these 65 additional sites also are being enhanced for the better coverage, according to the officials.

With this additional enhancement, the people in remote areas of the district will be able to avail the modern telecom services that will be useful for their day-to-day activities and especially for the students in these areas, it is hoped.

The village panchayats and even other village level offices like health centres, police centres, talathis and others in rural areas have been using the online services for the last so many years. However, these offices experience a lot of inconvenience and problems in operating their computers in lack of internet services. With the enhanced services, they will now be in a position to operate their machineries without any interruption, it is hoped.

Even though, private service providers like jio, airtel and others have been providing the 4 G services, BSNL is the only company which has been reaching the remote areas and making available the services to the consumers. The fresh initiative is one such step that will benefit the people.
