Gadchiroli March 19 (District Correspondent) The 190 th birth anniversary of Krantiveer Baburao Shedmake was celebrated by Adiwasi Vikas Prabodhan Samiti and other tribal organizations recently at Anand Nagar Gotul Bhumi here recently.
The programme was inaugurated at the hands of Mr. Vasantrao Kulsange, Founder President of the Prabodhan Samiti. Mr. Yashwant Naitam, President of Gondwana Gotul Samiti presided while Mr. Kunal Kowe, Satish Pungati, Tushar Madavi, Ms. Malta Pudo, Shyamla Pada, Pornima Kulsange were prominently present.
At the outset a grand procession was taken out from gotul bhumi, Nawegaon and proceeded to Anand Nagar winding through the main streets of Gadchiroli city. A portrait of Veer Baburao was garlanded at Veer Baburao memorial on Chamorshi road.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Kulsange threw light on the heroic deeds of Veer Baburao and said he was a great warrior who fought bravely against the British Army and laid down his life for the freedom movement of the country. The martyrdom of Veer Baburao will always inspire the coming generation, he stated.
In his presidential speech Mr. Naitam said Veer Baurao shedmake was the great hero of the freedom movement and due honour needs to be given to him. A suitable memorial of Veer Baburao should be raised in Gadchiroli, he demanded.
The other guests also expressed their views on the occasion and shed light on the life and work of Veer Baburao. Mr. Harishchandra Kannake made an introductory speech, Sadashiv Narote conducted the programme and Diwakar Pendor proposed the vote of thanks. A large number of people attended the programme.
