
Gadchiroli April 10 (District Correspondent) The farmers in Kuranza-Deshpur area in Armori taluka have suffered severe loss of their maize crops because of the menace of wild boars and untimely rains.
The farmers in the area have started taking the maize crops for the last few years besides the traditional paddy crops. Many of the farmers have been cultivating maize in their fields and open lands which gives them enough income, told Mr. Kishor Jambhulkar, Police Patil of Kuranza.
This year also the farmers have grown maize in their fields but the untimely rains that lashed the area damaged their crop. Whatever was remained was further destroyed by the wild boars due to which farmers have suffered a heavy loss. Mr. Jambhulkar visited the affected fields and inspected the loss. The matter will be taken up with the authorities, he assured the farmers.
The helpless farmers have demanded that they be given due compensation for their crop loss.
