First batch of SPARC PG diploma course to complete in July.

Gadchiroli May 14 (District Correspondent) “SPARC” (Social Programme on Addiction in Rural Community) launched by the Gondwana University in association with well-known voluntary organization SEARCH is completing one year in the month of July.

The first batch of one-year post-graduate degree course was started on 1st August last year. ‘Work, earn and learn and get PG diploma’ along with action with knowledge and skills are the hallmarks of this course. The course is based on the Nayee Talim pattern.

The main objective of this course is to develop ability and skill through actual work on de addiction in Muktipath Project of SEARCH. As many as13 candidates from various districts completed the said course in last 9 months 22-23 academic session. The 23-24 batch will start from 1st August 2023.

These 13 candidates have been Muktipatha Project has been assigned to work with the activist on the problem of addiction in the society in various talukas of Gadchiroli district.

This is done in a planned manner by going to various villages in the taluka and staying in the villages as per requirement. The candidates are completing the course while doing social activities. They are being taught the theory lessons by experts at SEARCH. The theory includes how to measure the prevalence of addiction in a community, creating health messages and literature, organizing people, non-violent social action, working with administration, de- addiction training, treatment and follow-up, program evaluation etc.

These students have learnt how to take action on various topics and also to organize and plan the programme. They have completed 100 village visits and 50 addiction treatment programs at taluka and village level.

Students will be awarded PG Diploma by Gondwana University. Master of Social Work, M.A.  in Sociology, or any other discipline and Bachelor of Social Work with 2 years of work experience is the eligibility for this course.

Dr. Abhay Bang (Chairman), Dr. Prashant Bokare, Vice Chancellor of Gondwana University, Vivek Sawant (MKCL), Dr. Vikram Patel (Harvard University), Dr. Shalini Bharat (Vice Chancellor, Tata Institute of Social Science) and Dr. Sudarshan Iyengar (Former Vice-Chancellor, Gujarat University). are in Advisory board of this course.

 

Mr. Tushar Khorgade is the convenor of the course which is being conducted under the supervision of Mr. Santosh Savalkar and Mr. Tapojya Mukherjee (Muktipath) and Prof. Dr. Sasikanth Aswale.
