Gadchiroli April 23 (District Correspondent) ‘Bandh’ was observed at Chamorshi on Saturday in protest against the thrashing of senior leader Atul Ganyarpawar by the Chamorshi PSO.

The bandh call was given by the workers of cooperative movement and Arya Vaishya Samaj which evoked good response. Most of the shops and business establishments in the town remained closed.

Chamorshi PSO Rajesh Khandwe had beaten up Ganyarpawar in the police station on Thursday with shoes and blows in which he was badly injured and is undergoing medical treatment at the District Hospital presently. The wrist of Ganyarpawar is fractured and has received multiple injuries in this thrashing.

Annoyed over this the workers of the cooperative movement in Chamorshi taluka came together and observed bandh.

Meanwhile a delegation of the Arya Vaishya Samaj called on the Tehsildar of Chamorshi Sanjay Nagtilak and submitted him a memorandum demanding immediate suspension of the PSO Khandwe.

Prof. Kishor Olllwar, Rinku Palarpawar, Rakesh Yerawar, Dattatray Chediyalwar and others were present in the delegation. The Tehsildar assured the members to convey their demand to the higher authorities.

Earlier the memmebrs of cooperative societies in Chamorshi taluka held a press conference at Chamorshi and strongly condemned the incident and demanded stringent action against Khandwe.

PSO Khandwe deliberately created an atmosphere of terror among the people on the background of the ongoing APMC elections due to growing popularity of Mr. Ganyarpawar who has been constantly ruling the APMC and cooperative societies in the taluka, alleged Mr. Suresh Naitam, President of the Cooperative Society. Ganyarpawar had not committed any wrong or illegal act, nor any case was registered against him, still he was called to the police station early in the morning and was beaten up mercilessly, he told and demanded quick action against Khandwe.

The other members of the society Eknath burande, Vishwanath somankar, Moreshwar Chalkalwar, Rohidas Sahare, Laxman Naitam and others were present at the press conference.

Shetkari Kamgar Paksh Secretary Ramdas Jarate also has condemned the beating of Mr. Ganyarpawar and has demanded immediate action against the PSO. Jarate has issued a statement here in this regard in which he has said that the thrashing was done to spread terror among the voters of APMC which is matter of concern. He has also demanded due protection to the candidates and leaders contesting the APMC elections.

A delegation of the Arya Vaishya Samaj, Sironcha also met the Tehsildar of Sironcha and submitted him a memorandum demanding action against PSO Khandwe.

Meanwhile Mr. Ganyarpawar has been shifted to Medical College Hospital Nagpur for the further treatment as he has internal injuries in the head and needs expert treatment, according to the sources close to Ganyarpawar.
