Gadchiroli May 17 (District Correspondent) Under ‘Solar Roof top Scheme’, solar panels have been installed on the roofs of 104 household consumers in Gadchiroli Circle (Alapalli, Bramhapuri and Gadchiroli Divisions) of Chandrapur Zone so far and a total of 511 kilowatts of electricity is being generated at their homes from clean energy from sunlight.

For promoting solar energy, subsidy is being given to the consumers who install solar roof top at their buildings and for this the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has announced the ‘Solar Roof Top Scheme’. Electricity is generated by these 104 domestic consumers and now they are getting the honour of being energy donors. The consumers include 9 households in Alapalli division, 49 in Bramhapuri division and 46 in Gadchiroli division.

All these customers get solar light at their homes along with additional electricity generated from the solar energy. They are selling the additional electricity to MSEDCL and along with this they are saving their electricity bills too.

Under this scheme, a subsidy of up to 40 percent is given to domestic consumers. Mahavitran has issued a notification and created a portal for the same. Amount of subsidy out of total project cost under this scheme is to be paid to the concerned agency chosen by the customer.

By applying for the subsidy on the company’s portal, solar rooftop can be installed from the authorized vendor to interested customers. The facility of applying is available at the link www.mahadiscom/consumerportal/renewableenergyportal/solar rooftop. The details are available on the website of Mahadiscom. Mr. Sunil Deshpande, Chief Engineer Chandrapur Circle has appealed the consumers to take advantage of this scheme and save in electricity bills.

Under this agreement, the selected agency is bound to provide the highest level of service to the customers installing solar roof tops. The agency has to keep stock of all the spare parts of the required set. Also, it is mandatory to set up a service centre and appoint trained personnel to repair these sets in emergency situations. These service centres are available for six days in a week   excluding holidays and will provide services for 8 hours.
