Gadchiroli March 5 (District Correspondent) The contract workers attached with MSEDCL have launched an indefinite strike in front of the Circle office of MSEDCL here from today for pressing the demand of absorbing them in regular services and other demands. More than 200 workers serving on different posts such as technicians, clerks, security guards etc have boycotted their routine work and joined the strike.

The main demands are the contractual, outsourced and project affected workers be absorbed in regular services as per their academic qualification, daily wages workers be appointed as per their seniority, guarantee of 60 years job be given until they are not absorbed as regular employees, seniority list of the workers be published on the company portals, minimum wages should be hiked by 40 percent, equal pay be given to the workers of all the three companies, contractual workers be given relaxation in age limit and education, compensation of Rs. 20 lakhs be given in case of the death of worker, ESI facility be given to the workers etc.

Mr. Prafulla Wasnik, Imran Qureshi, Prashant Dhawgaye, Sonu Kumre, Amol Yengantiwar, Atif Sheikh, Suresh Rohankar, Payal Rathi, Trishali Madavi, Saurabh Tembhurne and others are leading the strike. The strike will not be withdrawn until the demands are not fulfilled; the workers have warned.

We have been raising our demands for the last many years but the government has not paid any attention towards them. The workers were therefore compelled to launch the strike, told Mr. Prafulla Wasnik while talking to the reporters.
