Gadchiroli May 29 (District Correspondent) The medical team at the Gadchiroli District Hospital has successfully performed two highly complex and challenging surgeries for ovarian tumours, one right after the other. This has once again proven that patients from remote areas can receive high-quality, free, and reliable medical treatment right in Gadchiroli.
A 65-year-old elderly woman, admitted to the District Hospital, was diagnosed with a large ovarian tumour in her abdomen. Given the patient’s advanced age and the complexity of the tumour, this surgery presented an extremely challenging task.
However, under the guidance of Dr. Varsha Lahade—a Gynaecologist and the Civil Surgeon—the surgery was completed with great success. She received invaluable assistance during the procedure from Dr. Akash, Dr. Sharad, and Dr. Mansi.
The responsibility of administering anaesthesia during the surgery was executed by Anaesthesiologists Dr. Mittal and Dr. Sukeshni. Operation Theatre In-charge Madhuri Gedam and Sister Kiran made significant contributions to the procedure. Following the surgery, the patient’s condition remains completely stable, and she is making a rapid recovery.
Second successful surgery for a Rare Cancerous Tumour was performed on on a 26-year-old female patient who had been referred from the Rural Hospital, Dhanora. The patient was experiencing severe abdominal pain, and a palpable mass—comparable in size to a 24-week pregnancy—was detected in her abdomen. CT scans and ultrasonography revealed the presence of a large, mixed solid-cystic mass in her right ovary.
The medical team successfully performed an ‘Exploratory Laparotomy and Right Oophorectomy’. This surgery was carried out by a team comprising Chief Surgeon Dr. Mayur Dudhe, Dr. Kunal Chendkapure, Sumedh Kamble, Priyanka Madavi, and Anaesthesiologist Dr. Ankita Bhavate.
Following the surgery, the histopathology report of the removed mass revealed it to be a rare form of cancer known as a ‘Mixed Germ Cell Tumor,’. Thanks to the doctors’ promptness and decisive action, they succeeded in completely removing the cancerous mass from the body in a timely manner, thereby saving the patient’s life.
Following the successful treatment of these two patients, District Civil Surgeon Dr. Varsha Lahade—along with her entire team of doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff—is receiving widespread appreciation and congratulations from all quarters.
