Gadchiroli March 5 (District Correspondent) The OBC youths of the district have launched an indefinite hunger strike at Indira Gandhi Chowk of the city for demanding caste-wise census of OBCs and other demands.

National OBC Youth Federation District President Rahul Bhandekar, Vidarbha Divisional Publicity Chief Pankaj Khobe, OBC Seva Sangh District President Padam Bhurse, Anup Kohle, Suresh Bhandekar, Sunil Chadgulwar are leading the agitation.

The major demands raised by the youths include caste-wise census should be conducted in the state of Maharashtra, Maratha community should not be given reservation from OBC quota, hostels for OBC students be started immediately, Swadhar Yojana should be implemented for OBC students who cannot get admission in hostels, pending scholarships of OBC, SC, ST students should be given immediately.

The demands also include the reservation for OBCs in Gadchiroli district should be raised to 19 percent, recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission be implemented, 200 new buses should be provided in the district and adequate transport facilities be provided in the rural areas of the district, local youth of the district should be given priority in Surjagad and Konsari projects, condition of three generations for forest rights of OBC farmers should be abolished, funds given to the OBC community in the state budget should be increased.

Santoshi Sutrapawar, Ajay Somankar, Akash Ambokar, Badal Gadpayle, Roshan Kohle, Praful Ambokar, Sahil Dhodre, Sachin Pipre, Satyawan Pipre, Moreshwar Chaudhary, Amit Surajgade, Nandkishore Bhandekar, Akash Bhove, Snehal Kunghadkar and hundreds of OBC youths participated in the agitation.
