Gadchiroli June 23 (District Correspondent) Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given the slogan Mission Life to the whole world. Mission Life is a global mass movement led by India which encourages individual as well as community action to protect and preserve the environment. By joining Mission Life we can contribute to global climate action and implement the National Education Policy.

This was stated by Union Minister for Forests and Climate Change Bhupendra Yadao while speaking at the Gondwana University today.

Gadchiroli Chimur Lok Sabha  MP Ashok Nete, MLA Dr. Devrao Holi Gondwana University Vice Chancellor Dr. Prashant Bokare, Pro VC Sriram Kawle, Registrar Dr. Anil Hirekhan, Dean of humanities  Dr. A. Chandramouli, Director of Research Center Dr. Manish Uttarwar, Deputy Collector Dhanaji Patil, Conservator of Forests Nilesh Sharma, Girish Kuber of Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, Director of Srishti Sanstha Keshav Gurnule, Prof. Rupendra Gaur, were prominently present on the occasion.

Dr. Prashant Bokare informed that Gram Sabha Capacity Empowerment and Training Center has been started in association with the District Administration. This project is going on to make the villagers aware of all the things like how the locals can collect and store minor forest produces and how they can be proficient in selling them. He also informed the Minister about this initiative of University in the Village.

Appreciating some of the activities, the Minister extended his best wishes to the university. Girish Kuber said that it is important for the Gram Sabhas to work together. It is good that the University has started this initiative and this will be a model for the country, he added.

MLA Dr. Devrao Holi also expressed his views. Project Coordinator Dr. Naresh Madavi and Program Head Science and Technology Resource Center Ashish Gharai gave detailed information through power point presentation about the ongoing activities in Ekal Gram Sabha and Science and Technology Resource Center. Ms. Chetna Latkar and Niaz Mulani of the Ekal Project informed about the efforts being made for capacity building of gram sabhas and marketing of products produced by gram sabhas. Manish Uttarwar spoke about new entrepreneurs through TRICEP. Dr. Sandeep Lanjewar, Coordinator of Model College gave a detailed information about the university activity in Jambli village.

Director of Srishti Sanstha Keshav Gurunule expressed his concern about how to give maximum rights regarding collective forest rights. Prof. Rupendra Kumar Gaur also expressed his concern. Also the members of Gram Sabhas narrated their successful experiences. The office bearers of Shrushti Sanstha and Dinbandhu Sanstha presented their memorandums to the Minister on the occasion.

Gondwana University Registrar Dr. Anil Hirekhan conducted the programme and also proposed the vote of thanks.
