Martyr’s son duped with Rs. 2.16 crores, culprit arrested.

Gadchiroli April 22 (District Correspondent) Gadchiroli Police have arrested a person within 24 hours who defrauded the families of Martyred jawans by a staggering Rs. 2.16 crore under the pretext of providing them Jobs.

Police Constable Ganpat Madavi was martyred in 2013 during an exchange of fire between the police and Maoists in the forest area of ​ Todgatta. Under the government’s compassionate appointment scheme, jobs are provided to the legal heirs of martyred personnel. Following the demise of the Ganpat Madavi, his son Sagar Madavi had submitted an application for a Class-1 government post on compassionate grounds.

With the assistance of the Pune Rural Police, the Gadchiroli Police have apprehended the accused—who defrauded the family of the martyr Ganpat Madavi of approximately Rs. 2.16 crore in connection with this job—from the jurisdiction of the Rajgad Police Station in Pune District.

In 2022, while Sagar Madavi was in Pune preparing for competitive examinations, he became acquainted with the accused, Dnyaneshwar Shivaji Ware (30), a resident of Varodi Khurd, Taluka Bhor, District Pune. Upon learning about the ongoing process regarding Sagar’s job application under the compassionate appointment scheme, Dnyaneshwar gave Sagar a deceptive assurance claiming to have influential contacts within the  Mantralaya authorities and promised to assist him in securing an appointment to the post of Deputy Collector.

Subsequently, under the pretext of paying bribes to officials at the Ministry, Dnyaneshwar Ware—with the assistance of four other co-accused—defrauded Sagar and his mother, Meena Madavi. Through false assurances and deceit, they extorted a total sum of Rs. 2,16,79,100 from the victims which was collected periodically in various forms, including cash, PhonePe, and withdrawals made using Sagar’s bank account ATM card.

Based on a complaint lodged by Sagar Madavi in ​​the early hours of April 20 last, at the Gadchiroli Police Station, a case of cheating was registered under Sections 318(4) and 3(5) of the Indian Penal Code against five individuals, comprising the accused Dnyaneshwar Ware and his four accomplices.

Acting under the guidance of senior officials, a police team intensified investigation to ascertain the whereabouts of the accused; a police squad was immediately dispatched to Pune. Under the leadership of API Samadhan Daud (LCB) and API Vijay Musanwar of Gadchiroli Police Station, the accused Dnyaneshwar was taken into custody and formally arrested on the evening of April 20, from the jurisdiction of the Rajgad Police Station in Pune District.

Upon being produced before the Court, the accused was remanded to police custody for a period of four days. A search operation is underway to locate the remaining four absconding accused, and further investigation into the matter is being conducted by API Vijay Musanwar of the Gadchiroli Police Station.
