Gadchiroli police demolish naxal camp in Chhattisgarh.

Gadchiroli Aug. 17 (District Correspondent) Gadchiroli police team has succeeded in demolising a naxal camp in Chhattisgarh bordering the district on the night of Aug. 15 last.

According to Gadchiroli SP Nilotpal, a credible intelligence was received by Gadchiroli Police on the night of 15th August about presence of a camp of Sandra LOS and other naxal formations in the north of Bhopalapatnam in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh state along Gadchiroli- Bijapur border.

Immediately the matter was discussed with SP Bijapur and a joint team headed by Additional SP Aheri Yatish Deshmukh and 9 C-60 parties of approximately 200 C-60 commandoes and comprising of Dy SP of Bijapur Police and 70 DRG commandos was tasked to conduct the combing operation in the probable location.

While the joint teams were combing the area late evening, naxals opened indiscriminate fire on police parties which was promptly retaliated by the joint police teams. After heavy exchange of fire between the police parties and the naxals, a search of the area was carried out in the area. During this search operation, a large amount of naxal literature, 4 pittus, 1 mobile phone, tarpaulin sheets, utensils and other items were seized by the joint team.

The joint team safely reached Camp Bhopalapatnam at midnight. Process of registering the offence is underway at Bhopalapatnam Police Station.
