Gadchiroli June 6 (District correspondent) A book ‘Gondwanacha Mahayoddha- Krantiveer Baburao Shedmake’, written by well-known dramatist Chudaram Ballarpure, was released at the hands of Padmashree Dr. Parshuram Khune, recently at Nimborkar Bhavan of the city the other day.

The program was presided over by senior artist and theatre critic Prin. Dr. Shyam Mohrkar while Prof. Dr. Janbandhu Meshram, noted commentator was the chief guest. As a special guests, Prof. S. N. Pathan, Prof. Sadanand Borkar, Prof. Narendra Arekar, Prof. Shekhar Dongre, Prof. Srikant Kuttarmare, Prof. Dr. Savita Sadamwar and famous tribal writer Kusumtai Alam were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Khune said that the work of revolutionaries inspires the people to live with dignity and pride. It is really appreciable that the revolution made by Veer Baburao is highlighted by Mr. Balharpure in the form of drama, in a very original way. The drama will certainly become popular on the stage and will be seen by the drama lovers, he hoped.

Some litterateurs and stage artists were felicitated by Natyashree Sanstha on the occasion by presenting them shawl, coconut and books. They included Dr. Parashuram Khune and Prof. By Sadanand Borkar were felicitated for their appointment on Maharashtra Government’s Theatre Inspection Board, Ms. Kusum alam was honoured for organizing the first Mahila Adiwasi Sahitya Sammelan at Gadchiroli successfully, Dr. Shyam Mohrkar and Prof. Janbandhu Meshram for writing the preface and commentary on the book, well known comedian of Zadipatti dramas Prof. Shekhar Dongre on his retirement from the stage, and veteran artiste Purushottam Rohankar.

At the beginning of the program, tributes were paid to the departed artists- well-known writer Kishore Sanap, Zadipatti dancers Pooja Bansod and Anu Naitam, well-known singer Motiram Chaudhary and Bharat Rajgade.

On this occasion, musicians from Jadipatti, Vitthal Khanorkar, singers Diwakar Barsagade, Kevalram Bagmare, Raj Thakur and Shahnawaz performed songs from the plays ‘Krantiveer Baburao Shedmake’ and ‘Birsa Munda’ and brought liveliness to the program. On this occasion, a ‘Kavi Sammelan’ of selected 40 poets from Zadhipatti was also held. Poets from Chandrapur and Gadchiroli districts participated in it and presented beautiful poems. All participating poets were honoured with certificates.

Prof. Yadav Gahane conducted the programme while Yogesh Gohane conducted the poet meeting. Introductory speech was delivered by Mr. Dilip Meshram and vote of thanks was conducted by Dadaji Choudhary. For the success of the program Prof. Arun Bure, Vasant Chafle, Gunwant Shende and Chudaram Balharpure worked hard. All the guests, poets and attendees were felicitated by Sonu Alam and Natyashree by giving them saplings to give the message of environment protection and prosperity. The programme was attended by a large number of drama and literature lovers.
