Gadchiroli March 16 (District Correspondent) The contractual teachers working in the PESA area under Zilla Parishad schools of the district have launched an indefinite no work agitation from today demanding their regularization in services.
More than 450 teachers from across the district have assembled in front of the Zilla Parishad here and have started the sit in agitation to attract the attention of the state government and the administration towards their demand.
As per Government Resolution issued by the of the Government of Maharashtra, General Administration on 11 February 2026, the posts of the teachers are to be filled in through portal system which is a grave injustice on the contractual teachers who have been serving for the last over two years in remote areas of the district in a very negligible amount of honorarium, the agitating teachers have said.
We have been working in the PESA area under Zilla Parishad Gadchiroli and already have the necessary qualification required such as TET-CTET and TAIT-2022 examinations, they pointed out.
We have been working honestly in extremely sensitive, Naxal-affected and backward areas despite difficult conditions. Even though we sometimes did not receive honorarium for five to six months, we continued performing our duties sincerely without complaints despite financial difficulties, they further said.
However, according to the GR dated 11 February 2026, 50 percent of the posts in PESA areas will be reserved for Scheduled Tribes and the remaining 50 percent will be filled through open recruitment. If new teachers are appointed according to this rule, it will cause injustice to the contract teachers who have been serving sincerely in these areas for a long time, they said.
The qualified contract teachers be considered sympathetically and absorbed into permanent service, the agitating teachers have demanded.
Meanwhile some of the teachers’ unions and political parties met the teachers and extended their full support to the agitation. Mr. Rohidas Raut of the Republican Party, Gautam Meshram, district chief of Swatantra Mazdoor Union, Pundalik Deshmukh of the Shikshak Bharti, Hamsraj Undirwade of the Republican Party visited the pandal and declared their support demanding that the government should fulfil the demand of the teachers.
