Gadchiroli March 17 (District Correspondent) A bus service was launched for the very first time on Tumarkothi -Aheri road, thanks to the efforts of the Gadchiroli Police Force and the cooperation of the MSRTC.

To facilitate easy travel to the tehsil or district headquarters for the residents of Tumarkothi—located approximately 30 km from Bhamragad and 100 km from Aheri—a bus arrived in the village for the first time in its history. The villagers accorded the bus a grand welcome, celebrating with music, dance, and the playing of traditional instruments and the school children welcomed the bus waving the Tricolor.

Under the guidance of Gadchiroli SP Mr. Neelotpal, In-charge Officer of Tumarkothi Police Station, Gorakhnath Surase, inaugurated the bus service. He flagged off the bus, setting it on its journey, and extended his best wishes to the villagers. A total of 300 citizens attended the inauguration ceremony, including Gram Panchayat Kothi member Bhagyashree Lekami, Village Patil Ramji Mattami, Chinna Mattami, Raju Gawade, and Rama Lekami, a teacher at the Tumarkothi Zilla Parishad School.

This newly launched bus service—operating on the Tumarkothi–Kothi–Bhamragad–Aheri route—is expected to benefit 450 to 500 citizens in the region, thereby significantly improving their quality of life.

The commencement of this bus service provides a convenient means of transport for students in the village to access education and the villagers will now be able to travel with ease throughout the year. To address the connectivity issues faced by ordinary citizens, a total of 559 mobile towers has been erected across the district under the protection of the Gadchiroli Police Force; the construction of 424 km of roads and 65 bridges has been completed.

Over the past year, through the efforts of the Gadchiroli Police Force, bus services—introduced for the very first time since India’s independence—have been launched on the Gatta (Ja.)–Gardewada–Wangeturi, Katezari–Gadchiroli, Markanar–Aheri, and Ambezari–Gadchiroli routes.

The project was brought to fruition through the efforts of Police Inspector Honappa (F Company, 191st Battalion CRPF), Officer-in-Charge of Tumerkothi Police Station Gorakhnath Surase, PSI Ashish Meshram, along with other officers and personnel.
