Gadchiroli March 15 (District Correspondent) As part of educational tour organized by the Gadchiroli Zilla Parishad—aimed at providing rural students with firsthand exposure to science and space research—50 meritorious students and 10 officials from the district paid an educational visit to ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) in Bengaluru recently. Through this visit, the students gained close-up insights into India’s progress in the field of space research.

During the visit, ISRO officials provided the students with detailed information regarding the organization’s operational procedures, India’s space missions, and its future plans. The students were briefed on the success of the Chandrayaan-3 mission and the planning for the upcoming Chandrayaan-4 mission. The students also received guidance regarding India’s ambitious Gaganyaan human spaceflight mission.

The entire process of satellite manufacturing was explained to the students. They were provided with information on how a satellite is designed and how various electronic components, sensors, communication systems, and solar panels are integrated into it. Subsequently, the students were shown how satellite assembly is carried out and how rigorous technical tests—such as vibration tests, thermal tests, and vacuum tests—are conducted to ensure the satellite functions effectively under the harsh conditions of space.

Additionally, the students were informed about the launch process—specifically, how a satellite is integrated into a rocket for launch, how it separates once the rocket reaches Earth’s orbit, and how it operates while orbiting the Earth within a specific trajectory. They also received guidance on how satellites communicate with ground stations on Earth to transmit vital data for weather forecasting, communication services, mapping, disaster management, and scientific research.

An interactive session was also organized in which students posed numerous questions regarding the educational qualifications required to pursue a career at ISRO, opportunities available in the fields of science and engineering, and the potential avenues for future research.

For students hailing from a remote and rural region like Gadchiroli, visiting a world-class institution such as ISRO proved to be a matter of immense pride and an unforgettable opportunity of a lifetime.

The students and parents extended their heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Suhas Gade, CEO of Zilla Parishad, and Babasaheb Pawar, Education Officer (Primary), for making this opportunity available. The tour was organized under the leadership of Deputy Education Officer Vaibhav Barekar and Vivek Nakade.
