
Gadchiroli Feb. 16 (District Correspondent) A lecture on the Union Budget was organized at Samidha College of Civil Services, Adappali (Gogaon), recently with an objective to apprise the college students with the budget provisions.
Principal of the college, Manoj Dholane, presided over the programme while Dr. Mahendra Wardhalwar, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, Gondwana University, Gadchiroli was the main guide. Prof. Ankush Gohane, Prof. Pritam Kohpare, Prof. Sunil Bhurse, Prof. Vinod Kunghadarkar, were prominently present at the lecture.
Commenting on the budget, Dr. Wardhalwar explained the use of a budget and its history of presentation in the legislatures. He also talked about various international developments affecting India’s budget, tax provisions made in this year’s budget. Further he informed about the concessions given for young students, women and the working class.
Dr. Wardhalwar spoke about the efforts being made by the government for the growth of the industrial sector, challenges in this budget, detailed guidance on the growing fiscal deficit report, rising unemployment, and low spending in education and health sectors.
Prin. Dholne also explained the budget asking the students to study and understand it in the context of the Indian economy and the present situation. Later on, the queries and doubts raised by the students were also replied.
A large number of students, teachers and non-teaching staff of the college attended the programme.
