Gondi-Madia dalect skill course started at Gondwana University.

Gadchiroli Feb. 17 (District Correspondent) A ‘Gondi-Madia Dialect Skills Course’ program was recently organized in collaboration with the Tribal Studies Centre and the Department of English and History of Gondwana University.

Gondi-Madia language experts from various fields provided valuable guidance to the trainees. Dr. Naresh Madavi of Gondwana University shed light on ‘the origin of Gondi language, history of script and current challenges’, Mr. Vanisham Yerme elaborated on the ‘importance of pure pronunciation’. Dr. Priya Gedam gave lessons on ‘Basic Gondi Conversation’, while Ramesh Korcha, a teacher from Paraswadi, gave lessons on ‘Gondi-Madia Tense Structure and Grammar Elements’.

Mr. B.K. Wadde, a teacher from Z.P. School, guided on ‘Basic Principles of Communication and Contextual Communication. Manisha Hilko, a researcher at the Adivasi Adhyasan Kendra, explained the cultural aspects through Gondi folk songs and translations, while Raghuram Potavi emphasized on expression.

Speaking on the occasion, Program Coordinator Dr. Vaibhav Masram explained that this initiative is very useful for language learners, and the course is available online on the university’s Learning Management System. In the future, students can benefit from it to learn the basic Gondi-Madia language, he added.

The ‘Gondi-Madiya’ language plays a very important role in various competitive examinations in Gadchiroli district. It will be useful for the basic introduction of the language, facilitating daily communication and enabling to interact well with the local people while on government duty in the future,” said Dr. Shilpa Athawale.

Pramod Waghmare said that “Gondi-Madia language is an important medium to connect with the local people and communicate with them in a friendly manner, not just for the examination.” This training will be of great help to the students not only for their marks but also for their actual work.

Dr. Pramod Jaware, Swati Khobragade, Sneha Gedam, Aditya Gedam and Kiran Vidpi narrated their experiences in Gondi-Madia language. For the success of this initiative, Prof. Vivek Joshi, Dr. Nandkishore Mane, Dr. Devdutt Tare, Dr. Rajni Vadhai, Dr. Atul Gavaskar, Prof. Sandeep Kage, Prof. Satyanarayan Sudevad, Dr. Preeti Patil and Mr. Praveen Giradkar along with trainees from various departments took pains.
