
Gadchiroli Feb. 12 (District Correspondent) A massive dharna was staged in front of the collectorate here today as part of the nation-wide strike, the call for which was given by ten major trade unions in the country.
A large number of Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, state government and Zilla Parishad employees as well as workers of the various political parties participated in this dharna and protested against the four new labour laws enacted by the central government and also other anti-people policies.
They shouted thunderous slogans against both the state and the central government and strongly demanded early revocation of the labour laws. The union government has been working for the interests of the few corporate houses and industrialists and ignoring the comman people, farmers and labourers, it was alleged by the leaders who spoke during the agitation.
The changes made by the Central Government in the labour laws have created serious problems for the working class of the country and their fundamental rights are being violated, the new laws are reducing employment opportunities and threatening the social and economic security of workers. Also, the economic policies of the Central Government are anti-worker and anti-farmer, stated the leaders.
Prof. Rameshchandra Dahiwade, senior leader of CITU, Dr. Mahesh Kopulwar, state secretary of CPI, Devrao Chawde, district secretary of CPI, Amol Marakwar, district secretary of CPM led this agitation. Mr. Umeshchandra Chilbule, senior leader of the state government employee’s confederation, Mr. District President of Congress party Mahendra Brahmanawade, Wamanrao Sawsakde, farmers wing chief of Congress party, Hansraj Undirwade of the Republican Party, Raj Bansod of Azad Samaj Party, also participated in this agitation and extended their full support to the nation-wide strike.
Mr. Ghansham Lakde of Electricity Workers Federation, Sunil Chadgulwar of Govt. Employees Union, Prakash Khobragade, Sanjay Wakde, Chunnilal Motghare and many others also participated in the agitation.
