Gadchiroli April 15 (District Correspondent) ‘Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar carried forward the legacy of Mahatma Jyotiba Fule through the constitution of India and dedicated his whole life for the upliftment of the depressed classes. His work and life will always be remembered as a milestone in the history’ that will guide the society for generations’, said Dr. Dashrath Ade, well known thinker while addressing the ‘Ambedkar Jayanti programme here on Wednesday.
Samyak Samaj Samiti, Vishakha Mahila Mandal and Samyak Senior citizens association had jointly organized this programme on the grounds of Samyak Buddha Vihara, Gokul Nagar here.
President of Samyak Samaj Samiti Hansraj Undirwade, presided over the programme while senior journalist, Rohidas Raut, Senior citizen Association’s Kawduji Undirwade, Sitaram Tembhurne, Vishakha Mahila Mandal’s Sumitra Raut, Manisha Walke were prominently present as the guests.
Dr. Ade mentioned the revolutionary work done by Dr. Ambedkar and said the Ambedkarites and the backward classes have to be very cautious in the present times to keep the change brought about by this great leader and other social reformers.
Mr. Rohidas Raut said the fight against injustice and inequality which Dr. Ambedkar fought has not come to an end yet and all the depressed classes will have to continue this fight with renewed strength. It is a good thing that the thoughts of Dr. Ambedkar are being followed and accepted by a large section of society now, he remarked.
Ms. Sanjeevani Wankhede made an introductory speech, Najrika Mashakhetri conducted the programme and Manisha Tembhurne proposed the vote of thanks. Prizes were distributed to the winners of different competitions organized on the occasion. Mr. Kalidas Raut conducted the programme.
A grand rally was taken out in the evening that proceeded to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar square on Chandrapur Road and offered floral tributes to the great leader.
