Project Sanjeevani launched by Gadchiroli Police.

Gadchiroli April 15 (District Correspondent) As part of the rehabilitation of the surrendered Maoists, ‘Project Sanjeevani’ was launched by the Gadchiroli Police Force on April 14 last.

So far, 704 Maoists have surrendered before the police under the government’s surrender scheme that was started in 2005. Out of this, a total of 55 Maoists have adopted the path of living with dignity since 2022. Out of this, 22 Maoists have renounced the Naxal movement in the last three months

This project, conceived by Superintendent of Police Nilotpal, includes easy distribution of reward money received from central and state government schemes after surrender, construction of housing projects under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and Shabari Awas Yojana by providing plots, providing identity cards like Aadhar card, PAN card, ration card, job card, training in motor driving, sewing, beauty parlour, animal husbandry etc.

For self-employment, training and employment opportunities like welders, technicians, operators in renowned companies like Lloyds Metals and Energy Ltd., establishment of women’s self-help groups for women’s empowerment, “Operation Roshni” for eye treatment, as well as sterilisation reopening surgery, counselling for mental and social development, psychotherapy and meditation camps, mass marriage ceremonies for surrendered Maoist members and other schemes will be implemented in a planned manner under this project.

On the occasion of the inauguration of this Project Sanjeevani, the foundation stone of 4 separate row-house constructions equipped with all the facilities for 4 surrendered Maoist members was laid by Superintendent of Police Nilotpal.

Additional SP (Campaign) Yatish Deshmukh, SDPO of Gadchiroli Suraj Jagtap, In-charge DySP (Home) Vinod Chavan, Head of LCB Arun Phegde, Head of DSB Nikhil Phating, Incharge of Gadchiroli Police Station Revchand Singanjude as well as police officers and officials of various branches and more than 50 surrendered Maoist members were present.

The officer-in-charge of the surrender branch Gadchiroli Narendra Piwal and officials worked hard for the success of this program.
