Gadchiroli April 18 (District Correspondent) ‘Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar has not remained just a person now, he has become an ideology which the people across the world have started to follow and practice. Dr. Ambedkar has thus now become a global leader in real sense’ said Dr. Pradeep Aglawe, noted thinker and member secretary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Charitra Sadhne Samiti.
He was speaking at a programme organized by Dr. Ambedkar Study Centre of the Gondwana University at the auditorium of the university here on Thursday.
Dr. Prashant Bokare, Vice Chancellor of the University presided while Dr. Shriram Kawle, Pro VC, Dr. Anil Hirekhan, Registrar and Dr. Dilip Barsagade, Head of the study Centre were prominently seated on the dais.
Dr. Aglawe further said Dr. Ambedkar put forward the thought of human rights. The agitations made by him for the cause of the depressed classes has no limit of time. That is why his overall work has become a topic of education, research and seminars in several academic institutions and universities across the globe.
Dr. Ambedkar has tremendous contribution in the making of modern India hence he must be called the architect of the modern India besides the architect of the Constitution, Dr. Aglawe pointed out. Dr. Ambedkar was a staunch nationalist, he said giving several instances in his life including the memorandum submitted to the Simon Commission.
It was not an easy task to create a nation out of a country divided in several languages, cultures and regional imbalances but Dr. Ambedkar did it on the foundation of his commitment and wisdom and made India a democratic country. Several countries which got Independence at the time of India’s freedom, have now collapsed but India has stood overcoming all the problems is the real strength of our Constitution, Dr. Aglawe further stated.
Dr. Bokare in his presidential speech said Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar brought this country to the stage where we stand now and the youths should take inspiration from his work and thoughts. Celebrating the birth anniversary in any university has a special significance and students should remember this, he urged.
The youths of India which is a demographic dividend of ths country have to perform a vital role on the world platform and the thoughts of Dr. Ambedkar will stand as a guiding star, he opined.
Dr. Dilip Barsagade made an introductory speech, Dr. Shilpa Athawale conducted the programme and Dr. Anil Hirekhan proposed the vote of thanks. A large number of students, teachers, eminent citizens and university staff attended the programme.
