Gadchiroli Jan. 7 (District correspondent) ‘After joining the court as a junior clerk, the journey from Judge to Charity Commissioner to Judicial Member of the Maharashtra Sales Tax Tribunal Bench, Mumbai was definitely not an easy one. The inspiration of motherland in Gadchiroli district was always with me. Today, once again it was confirmed that the love and blessings of the residents of our home district is still with me. Therefore, I believe that ‘Gadchiroli Gaurav’ award given by Gadchiroli Press Club is an honour of my struggling life’.
This was stated by Mr. Pramod Tarare, former Charity Commissioner and judicial member of Maharashtra Sales Tax Tribunal Bench while replying to his felicitation that was accorded by Gadchiroli Press Club.
On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Acharya Balshastri Jambhekar, Mr. Tarare was honoured with the ‘Gadchiroli Gaurav’ Award by the Gadchiroli Press Club at the press club here on Friday.
Press Club President Nandkishore Kathawate presided over the function. Vice Chancellor of the Gondwana University Dr. Prashant Bokare, former Minister of State and MLA Dharmaraobaba Atram, former President of Zilla Parishad Bhagyashree Atram-Halgekar, Dr. Sangeeta Tarare were prominently present as the chief guests on this occasion.
Mr. Pramod Tarare was felicitated at the hands of Dr. Prashant Bokare and Dharmaraobaba Atram with a memento, bouquet and a shawl.
Pramod Tarare started his career as a junior clerk in the court. Later, while working as a lawyer in Gadchiroli, he was appointed as District and Additional Sessions Judge in Jalna in 2008. After that he worked in Yavatmal, Aurangabad, Vaijapur and Nagpur. Later he served as Additional Chief Justice Mumbai City and Special Judge CBI. He worked on various important posts in the state of Maharashtra.
While speaking at the program, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Bokare said that though Gadchiroli district is called backward and Naxal infested, this district has people with hearts like gold. Facing a very adverse situation, Tarare struggled and achieved success which is an inspiration to all. The Press Club has honoured a very deserving person, he stated. There are more gems hidden in this land and the Press Club should search them and honour them in the same way, he advised.
Mr. Atram said that although electronic media or other social media are increasing today, the importance of print media like newspapers has not decreased at all. He also said that newspapers have maintained their credibility and society still respects newspapers only, he opined. There is nothing wrong in exposing the wrong doers, he said.
Ms. Bhagyashree Atram also appreciated the Press Club for organizing a great program and felicitating Mr. Pramod Tarare. Press Club President Nandkishore Kathawate expressed his views on the history of journalism, importance and problems of newspapers and media persons. Senior Journalist Suresh Padmashali made the introductory speech, Milind Umre moderated the programme and Press Club Secretary Nilesh Patle gave the vote of thanks.
