Gadchioli Jan. 7 (District Correspondent) A sickle cell awareness rally and guidance camp was organized by Sanj Multi Activity Institute, Bhamragad recently at Bhamragad.
The rally started from Tribal boys’ hostel under the leadership of Mr. Ruplal Gongle, Founder President of the Institute and moved through the main streets of the town shouting slogans about sickle cell treatment. Mr. Jagdish Durge and the students of the hostel and other citizens of Bhamragad participated in this rally.
The rally was concluded in a public meeting in the premises of the Sanj Institute. Dr. B. M. Satamwar, Medical Officer of Rural hospital of Bhamragad, Ratnadeep Dudhe, Lab. Technician were prominently present in this meeting. Dr. Satamwar guided the students on different types of sickle cell disease, precaution to be taken and gave detailed information of the treatment available on this disease.
A sickle cell diagnostic camp was also held on the occasion in which patients were examined by the doctors and solubility tests were conducted. Some of the blood samples were collected and sent for further examination to the district Hospital of Gadchiroli.
