Gadchiroli Jan. 9 (District correspondent) Chief Minister’s Women’s Empowerment Campaign was today launched from Gadchiroli at the hands of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in a huge women’s rally organized on the grounds in MIDC area.

Today is the day to bring a new revolution in the life of women. For the empowerment of women, the government has taken important decisions and its effective implementation is underway, he said while addressing the rally.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Food and Drug Administration Minister Dharmarao Baba Atram, MP Ashok Nete, MLAs Dr. Devrao Holi, Krishna Gajbe, DIG Sandeep Patil, District Collector Sanjay Meena, CEO Ayushi Singh, SP Nilotpal were prominently present.

Mr. Shinde said, the state government has started the ‘Lek Ladki’ scheme and has doubled the financial assistance to the self-help groups. The state has a legacy of accomplished women. Today, women are one step ahead of men in every field, he added.

The Chief Minister further said that the word “backward” used for Gadchiroli has now been deleted and the progress of Gadchiroli district is going on. Around 10,000 people have got employment through Surjagad Project. The expansion of this industry will soon take place and employment will be provided to 15,000 more people, he said.

The tractors, tillers, harvesters were distributed to the beneficiaries and bicycles to the school girls. In future, bicycles will be distributed to 10 thousand school girls in Gadchiroli. More than 2.20 crore people of the state have been given the benefit of the welfare schemes of the state through the scheme ‘Shasan Apya Dari’.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started many schemes to raise the standard of living of women with the concept that India cannot develop unless women, who account 50 percent of the total population, are empowered. If loans are given to women, the repayment rate is 100 percent. In the year 2023, the state government has given a loan of Rs 7,000 crore to women of self-help groups.

He further said that Prime Minister has launched schemes like Ujwala Gas Connection, Har Ghar Jal, Har Ghar Bijli etc. for women. Also, loans of 25 crores have been made available to new entrepreneurs through start-up scheme, out of which women have been given a loan of 13 crores to stand on their own feet. The state government will give Rs 1 lakh to welcome the birth of a girl child till the age of 18 years. Also, the state government is providing free education for girls and women have 50 percent discount in ticket price of ST, he told.

Gadchirali can become the steel city of the country in future. The state government has made it a condition to provide employment to locals in any project coming here. Water, land, forest are the right of tribals and Gadchiroli will be developed only by protecting the environment. He also expressed hope that Gadchiroli will be named among the advanced districts of the state now.

Mr. Dharmarao Baba Atram, Mr. Ashok Nete also spoke on the occasion.

The women of Gadchiroli district who have done excellent work in various fields were felicitated by dignitaries on the occasion. They included Sulochana Madavi, Manisha Madavi, Sangita Yerojowar, Savita Bhoyar, Rupali Mohurle, Kiran Kumawar, Jamuna Dehari, Sub-Inspector of Police Kalyani Puttewar and Tebu Usendi. Apart from this, wheelchairs were distributed to Kavita Mashakhetri and Jyoti Kundarkar.

A bhumipujan of developmental works worth Rs. 150 crores was also performed on the occasion and cheques of financial assistance were distributed to the beneficiaries.
