Woman naxal killed in encounter.

Gadchiroli Sept. 30 (District Correspondent) A dreaded woman Naxalite was killed in an encounter that took place between the police and the naxals in Kapewancha forest area under Rajaram Khandla Police Assistance Centre in Aheri sub division last evening. The naxal has not yet been identified.

This was informed by the SP Ankit Goyal in a press conference here this afternoon.

The police received a reliable intelligence that 30 to 40 naxals belonging to Aheri and Permili LOS had gathered in Kapewancha forest area in order to carry out subversive activities against security forces. Accordingly, anti-naxal operation was launched by the commandos of Special Operation Squads (C-60) on Thursday evening.

While the commandos were conducting search operations in the forest, the naxals hiding in the forest opened indiscriminate fire in their direction with the intention of killing them. The commandos appealed to the Maoists to stop the gunfire and surrender. But, disregarding the appeal, the Maoists intensified gunfire. The commandos then opened retaliatory fire at the Maoists in self-defense. Sensing mounting police pressure, the Maoists then fled away  taking cover of the thick forest.

As the gunfire ended, the commandos carried out the search operations, during which they recovered 1 female dead body of the Maoist clad in dark green uniform.  8 MM rifle – 1, arms-ammunitions and daily essential items were also recovered from the spot. Identification of dead body is ongoing. Continuous search operation is ongoing. From the month of October 2020 till now, a total 55 naxalites has been neutralized in various encounters, 46 arrested and 19 surrendered, it was informed.

The operation was conducted under the able guidance of Mr. Ankit Goyal, SP, Somay Munde, Addl. SP (Ops.), Sameer Shaikh, Addl. SP (Admin.)  Anuj Tare, Addl. SP Aheri.

Mr. Goyal has appreciated the efforts and bravery of the C-60 commandos and vowed to intensify the anti-naxal operations against the Left-wing extremists.
