Gadchiroli Dec. 5 (District correspondent) ‘Vidarbha Rajya Vidarbha Nirman Sankalp Yatra’ was taken out by Vidarbha Rajya Andolan Samiti (VRAS) recently from Rajnagri Aheri to create awareness among the people about the separate state of Vidarbha the other day.
A statue of Raje Vishweshwarrao Maharaj, a staunch Vidarbha leader was garlanded by Adv. Wamanrao Chatap, senior leader of VRAS at Vishweshwarrao Maharaj Chouk of Aheri in presence of hundreds of workers and citizens.
Speaking on the occasion, Adv. Chatap said that Rajnagari Aheri is the birthplace of Vidarbha movement, which has witnessed many agitations under the leadership of late Raje Vishweshwarrao Maharaj and late Raje Satyavanrao Maharaj, that is why this yatra has been started from Aheri. The campaign of the separate state of Vidarbha has to be taken up again with renewed vigour to convince the people about the independent Vidarbha state movement, he added.
The Vidarbha Rajya Andolan Samiti has decided to get the long pending demand of separate Vidarbha state fulfilled under any circumstances this time and all the workers will fight this battle tooth and nail with a motto ‘Abhi Nahi to Kabhi Nahi’, said Adv. Chatap calling upon the citizens to participate in the yatra in large numbers.
Adv. Chatap also explained in detail how Vidarbha region has remained backward and injustice is being done to its people, what potential of development is available in the region of Vidarbha and how all round development can be achieved if the state of Vidarbha is created, in his speech.
Adv. Ranjana Mamarde, President of Mahila Aghadi of VRAS, Ajay Kankadalwar, former ZP President, Prakash Gudelliwar, Municipal councillor and large number of people attended the programme.
