Gadchiroli Sept. 7 (District Correspondent) The first show of the play “Gondwanacha Mahayoddha- Krantiveer Baburao Shedmake” which is the heroic saga of tribal hero, who died at the age of 25 while fighting for the country was performed at Sumanand Sabhagriha of the city recently. The enthusiastic audience applauded the experiment.
Well known playwright Chudaram Balharpure from Zadipatti has written this play and famous singer Anirudh Vankar has directed it. The show was presented in association with National School of Drama, New Delhi and Gondwana University, Gadchiroli.
When the national independence uprising of 1857 was suppressed by the force of the gun, the tribal armed revolutionary uprising of 1858 was born. And the first revolution site of this uprising was Molampally zamindari in Gadchiroli district and the first revolutionary was “The Great Warrior of Gondwana – Krantiveer Baburao Shedmake”.
The armed revolution of Veer Baburao has been portrayed in this drama. The artists were successful in presenting the story of this revolution on stage. The play was inaugurated under the chairmanship of Dr. Anil Hirekhan, Registrar of the Gondwana University in presence of the other dignitaries.
As many as 35 artists from the theatre training school presented this excellent play. The play is a matter of pride for the district of Gadchiroli, commented Dr. Namdeo Usendi, former MLA while expressing his views during the inaugural function. The experiments of this play should be shown not only in the villages of Gadchiroli district, but in the whole of Maharashtra” opined Dr. Devrao Holi, Gadchiroli MLA while appreciating the drama.
A large number of drama lovers attended the show and acclaimed it with the thunderous applauses.
