Gadchiroli Feb. 28 (District correspondent) A resolution to make the village alcohol and tobacco free was passed by the villagers of Asawandi in Etapalli taluka.

A ‘Muktipath Marathon’ competition was organized at a remote tribal village of Asavandi in Etapalli taluka in association with the villagers and Muktipath. In this competition, a total of 42 contestants such as women, men and youths of the village participated and all of them unanimously resolved to create a village free of alcohol and tobacco sale.

The main theme of this marathon was ‘Let’s run for freedom from alcohol and tobacco’. The objective behind this was that active youth, women and men of the village should come together to free the village from alcohol and tobacco through the competition.

On this occasion, the Taluka team of Muktipath Project appealed to people to stay away from addiction by convincing them about the ill effects of alcohol and tobacco. After that, the competition was started by lighting the torch by the dignitaries. 42 contestants had spontaneously participated in this marathon.

The winners of various groups were felicitated by dignitaries. The event was successfully planned by Muktipath Taluka team along with Taluka Organizer Kishore Malewar and others. At this time, the villagers resolved to free the sale of liquor and kharra in the village.
