Gadchiroli June 28 (District Correspondent) Rashtriya OBC Mahasangha has demanded recruitment of Talathis as per amended GR regarding PESA areas and cancel the present recruitment.

Addressing a press conference at the PWD guest house here this afternoon, Prof. Sheshrao Yelekar, National vice President of the Mahasangha told that the Revenue and Forest department of Government of Maharashtra has issued an advertisement for the recruitment of 4644 posts of Talathis in the state. Out of this, a total of 158 posts are to be filled in in Gadchiroli district alone. However, 151 posts are to be filled in from the PESA areas.

All these 151 posts are to be filled in from amongst the Scheduled Tribes candidates as per the ordinance issued by the Governor on June 9, 2014. However, this ordinance was amended by the office of the governor itself on Aug. 29, 2019 which came into effect from Feb. 28, 2023.

The present recruitment needs to be made as per the new GR, but the state government is making the recruitment as per old ordinance which has become outdated and is not in effect at all, which is a grave injustice on the OBCs and other non -tribal candidates like SCs, VJNT etc, pointed out Prof. Yelekar.

The state government should therefore cancel the present advertisement and make it as per the 2023 GR which has given due representation to all the other categories depending on the population of the PESA village, he said.

If this recruitment is not cancelled, all the OBCs will launch an intensive agitation. We may approach the court also against the state government, he warned.

Also present at the press conference were Mr. Pramod Pipre, senior leader of BJP, Mahendra Bramhanwade, District President of Congress, Vishwajeet kowase, General Secretary of Maharashtra Youth Congress, Ms. Chhayatai Kumbhare, Shiv Sena leader, Vivek Bramhanwade of NCP, Prof. Dewanand Kamdi, Dadarao Chudhri of OBC Mahasnagha, Prabhakar Wasekar, Ramesh Bhurse, Satish Vidhate, Suresh Bhandekar, Sunil Chadgulwar, Keshao Nimbod and many others.

Later on, these leaders met the district Collector and submitted him a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister and other state authorities.
