Gadchiroli Oct. 23 (District Correspondent) health department officials attached with the National Health Mission will be resorting to ‘No Work’ agitation from Oct. 25 next to press the long pending demand of absorbing all the contractual employees and officers into regular government jobs.

This was declared by Ms. Amita Nagdeote, chief coordinator of the National Health mission Contractual Officers -Employees Action committee while addressing a press conference at the Press club here this afternoon.

The doctors, nurses and other employees attached with the NHM have been rendering health services for the last over 17 years on contract basis. Even after several agitations and the Aurangabad high court judgement, these officials have not been absorbed in the regular govt. jobs. Now the age limit of most of the employees has crossed and they can’t apply for the fresh jobs. These staffers have served during the corona period at the risk of their lives and saved the lives of many patients. But the government has been ignoring our legal demand of regularising our services, said Ms. Nagdeote.

If the teachers working on clock hour basis with the Tribal Development department can be regularised by the state government, why cant we, she asked and strongly demanded that all the contractual employees be absorbed as regular staff.

Many of the states in the country such as Orissa, Punjab, Rajasthan, Manipur and Madhya Pradesh have already regularised the services of contractual NHM officials why the Maharashtra government can’t do it, she asked.

Because of the attitude of the state government, a discontent has prevailed among the employees and that is why they have decided to launch no work agitation, told Ms. Nagdeote. These employees have already been observing the non-cooperation agitation since Oct. 17 last and will resort to Halla Bol agitation at Azad Maidan, Mumbai on Oct. 30 and 31 next, she declared.

The doctors present at the press conference also narrated the difficulties being faced by them while serving as a contract staff and demanded that the government must do justice with them by absorbing them in the regular service.

Also present at the press conference were Nilesh Subhedar, Liyaz Pathan, Dr. Mayur Channawar, Sharmila Janbandhu, Manoj Gedam, Minaxi Khobragade, Gaurav Dongre, Netra Kolte, Rakesh Yerme and others.
