Gadchiroli July 18 (District correspondent) Senior journalist of the city Avinash Bhandekar, who has been doing journalism for 33 years, was felicitated by Marathi Patrakar Parishad, on his appointment as a member of the accreditation committee of the state government.

Mr. Bhandekar was presented shawl and bouquet at the hands of Chief Trustee S M Deshmukh in a programme held at the auditorium of the Govt. Agriculture college, Pune. Trustee Kiran Naik, President Sharad Pable, Working President Milind Ashtivkar, State General Secretary Mansurbhai Sheikh, Vice President Janhvi Patil were prominently present.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Deshmukh appreciated the work of Mr. Bhandekar saying he has worked successfully even after living in a remote place like Gadchiroli and his work is certainly laudable. Journalists often need help but it is not always possible to help them.  So now journalists need to do something for themselves.  For this, a unique initiative to raise funds from journalists for the needy journalists will soon be undertaken by the Marathi Patrakar Parishad, which has a tradition of 85 years.  Through this initiative, a fund of rupees one crore will be raised so that journalists in need can be helped, he stated.

On this occasion, 16 members of the Marathi Patrakar Parishad, who were appointed to the Accreditation Committee of the State Government, were felicitated.  Many office bearers in the state attended the program
