Gadchiroli Oct. 17 (District Correspondent) Adiwasi Sangharsha Samiti activists staged dharna agitation in front of the office of Integrated Tribal Development Project here this afternoon to protest against mis -management and lack of basic facilities in the Govt. Ashram Schools in the district.
The workers shouted slogans in support of their demands and delivered speeches demanding early solving of the Ashram School problems and stringent action against the officials responsible for these problems.
The main demands included early dismissal of an employee who molested a girl student of the English medium Ashram School of Gadchiroli, early suspension of the Eklavya Residential School Head Master Sanjeev Ilme for his negligence in the school administration, separate building arrangement for the Chamorshi and Gewardha Eklavya Schools, basic facilities like beddings, pure drinking water, washrooms, toilets, health services, books etc to the students, filling up of teachers and other posts in the Ashram Schools, regular conduction of classes with quality education etc.
A delegation of the agitators discussed the issues in detail with the Assistant Project Officers Ms. Chanda Magar and Somankar and demanded early action on them. They warned to intensify the agitation if these demands are not fulfilled immediately. The officers assured the delegation to look into the demands.
Mr. Bharat Yerme of All India Adiwasi Employees Federation, Rohidas Raut of Republican Party, Ms. Kusum Alam, senior tribal leader, Vasantrao Kulsange of Veer Baburao Prabodhan Samiti, Jayshree Yerme of Adiwasi Mahila Federation, Janardan Taksande of Bharat Mukti Morcha, Kunal Kowe of Adiwasi Yuwa Ekta Manch, Ashok Khobragade and Narendra Raipure of Republican Party, Sainath Pungati, Suraj Kodape of Adiwasi Jangom Sena, Malti Pudo, Rekha Todase and many other activists participated in the agitation.
