Art and Sports festival of Gondwana University held.

Gadchiroli Feb. 20 (District Correspondent) Art and sports are two strong pillars of personality development and “a strong body and a creative mind” are the hallmarks of a successful employee, asserted Samyukta Thorat, Head of the Department of Fine Arts at RSTM Nagpur University while speaking at the inauguration of the Amrit Art and Sports Festival of Gondwana University.

The programme was presided over by Registrar Dr. Anil Hirekhan. Director of Sports Dr. Anita Lokhande, famous singer, Sagar Madhumatke, Satish Padole, Vijaykumar Gharat, Dr. Sandesh Sonule, Chandrakant Khoke, Arun Junghare were prominently present.

Around 450 officers and employees of affiliated aided colleges are participating in the festival. The Sports and Physical Education Department of the university has organized this event with the aim of giving a platform to the latent talents of the employees and increasing the enthusiasm for sports.

Dr. Hirekhan said, there is a ‘flaming swan’ hidden in everyone. When it gets the right platform, it proves its power.” He appealed that the Amrit Kala and Krida Mahotsav is an initiative that gives an opportunity to those latent qualities and everyone should take full advantage of it.

Mr. Sagar Madhumatke also guided the employees. The songs sung by Registrar Dr. Anil Hirekhan and Sagar Madhumatke were applauded by the audience. Dr. Sanyukta Thorat brought colour to the program by showcasing her acting skills.

The program was introduced by Dr. Anita Lokhande. Yogesh Sopankar conducted the program and Dr. Sandesh Sonule gave the vote of thanks.

The festival was concluded at the hands of Gondwana University Registrar Dr. Anil Hirekhan. University Employees Association President Manoj Jadhav, Officers Association President Dr. Sandesh Sonule, Vice President Vijayalakshmi Parchake, College Association President Chandrakant Khoke, General Secretary Arun Junghare were present.

Manoj Jadhav, Satish Padole, Mahadev Vasekar, Sandesh Sonule Vijayalakshmi Parchake were felicitated on behalf of the college association.

The Gondwana University team won the first prize in the volleyball and tug-of-war competition. The dignitaries distributed prizes for cricket, kho-kho, volleyball, kabaddi, running, tug-of-war, badminton, musical chair, as well as solo and group singing, solo and group dance, monologue and short drama competitions.

Aparna Darde, Vinay Wasnik and Smita Khobragade were the judges for singing and dance, while Prof. Yadavrao Gahane and Omprakash Sangrame were the judges for drama.

The competitions were conducted by Prof. Sanjay Meshram proposed the vote of thanks was given by Dr. Sandesh Sonule.
