
Gadchiroli Jan. 1 (District Correspondent) A hardcore woman Maoist, Tarakka, active for the last 38 yrs, along with ten Senior Maoist Cadres, surrendered before the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis at the police headquarters here this afternoon.
DKSZCM (Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee Member) Tarakka, along with three senior cadres of DVCM rank, one Dy. Commander, two ACM and four Platoon Members also surrendered.
Maharashtra Government had announced a total reward of Rs. 1. 03 crores cumulatively on them. Earlier this year, on June 22, 2024, In-charge and secretary of the Gadchiroli Divisional Committee and DKSZCM Giridhar Tumretti had surrendered before the then Dy. CM and present-day CM which is a major blow to the Maoist movement in Gadchiroli and entire Dandakaranya region.
During his visit, the CM went to highly sensitive Gardewada area to inaugurate the Gatta-Gardewada-Wangeturi road and Tadguda bridge which will provide all weather connectivity to adjoining 20 villages. He also flagged off ST bus services from Gatta to Gardewada further till Wangeturi which will facilitate round the year movement of troops and villagers to Etapalli and Aheri Tahsil.
The CM also inspected the operational preparedness of jawans at newly established AOP Pengunda. He interacted with all officers and jawans of Gadchiroli Police, CRPF, SRPF and C-60 Commandoes and lauded their efforts in opening the AOP in such hostile region.
Mr. Fadnavis also participated in the Maha Janjagaran Melava organized through Police Dadalora Khidki initiative which saw participation of 1000 villagers from adjoining villages. During the event, essential items were distributed to attending citizens, including spray pumps, large cooking utensils, musical instruments, sewing machines, blankets, lower-T-shirts, sarees, and footwear for women also school students received bicycles, pens, notebooks, school bags, cricket kits, volleyballs with nets, clothes, compasses, chocolates and biscuits.
While addressing the villagers he reiterated the government’s stand of all around development of the region including construction of roads, bridges and mobile towers.
