In 2014, when Mr. Prabhakaran met me, I had set a condition of setting up a steel project in Gadchiroli and providing employment to the locals. He agreed  and worked towards it. It was only with the help of the police administration that the mining started despite the opposition of the Maoists, he said.

The foundation stone of the Konsari project was laid in 2018-19 and it is being inaugurated now. An investment of about 6200 crores has already been made in the district and due to this, 9,000 people are getting employment. Further, an investment of Rs 25,000 crores will be made and 20,000 locals will get employment. There will be a big change in the lives of the youth of Gadchiroli, the Chief Minister said.

Mr. Fadnavis congratulated the Managing Director of Lloyds Metals, Mr. B. Prabhakaran, for considering the locals for employment in the project.  Fadnavis also expressed confidence that the value of the shares will increase fivefold in the next five years due to the pace of the company’s work.

Gondwana University and Lloyds have signed an agreement with Curtin University in Australia. Therefore, quality training related to mining will now be available in Gadchiroli. An airport is being built in Gadchiroli. Gadchiroli is being connected to Mumbai through the Samruddhi Highway, said Fadnavis.

In the history of Gadchiroli’s transformation the name of Lloyds will be written in golden letters, the Chief Minister asserted.

On this occasion, Padma Shri Dr. Tulsi Munda was presented with a certificate of 10,000 shares of the company by Fadnavis. Apart from this, the Chief Minister also presented share certificates to two surrendered Naxalites and three employees of LMEL.
