Gadchiroli Sept. 14 (District Correspondent) The 16 the ‘Raising Day’ of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was celebrated at 192 battalion of the para military force here the other day.
Mr. Dev Raj, Commandant of the battalion laid a wreath on the martyr’s memorial and paid his respects to the martyred jawans and officers who laid down their lives while performing their duties, to mark the beginning of the programme.
Mr. Raj then extended his best wishes to all the officers and jawans of the battalion and their family members.
The 192 battalion was formed on Sept. 12, 2007 by Mr. B. S. Gujral at Ajmer. After four weeks pre induction training at Army Core Battle School, Doda in Jammu and Kashmir, the battalion was deployed at Anantnag to fight the terrorism prevailing at that time. On Aug. 15, 2009, the battalion was deployed at Gadchiroli to fight against naxalism after completing training at Army Camp of Amritsar in Punjab.
In the last 15 years, this battalion has participated in several anti naxal operations and has so far received 1594 medals for the best performance, it was informed. The battalion received 2 Presidents Medals for Gallantry, 1 police medal for meritorious services, 46 Ati Utkrishta Sewa Padak, 69 Utkrishtha Sewa Padak and 1476 Antarik Suraksha Sewa Padak.
Various sports activities were organized during the Raising Day celebrations that included volleyball, tug of war, badminton, push ups, chin ups and cultural programmes were also organized.
The officers and jawans of the battalion participated in the programme.
