Gadchiroli June 3 (District Correspondent) The district administration has geared up its machinery for the counting of Gadchiroli-Chimur Lok Sabha Constituency held on 19 th April in the first phase of the Lok Sabha Elections. The counting of votes will start on 4th June from 8 am in the building of Agriculture College here.

The counting of votes will be done on the basis of six assembly constituencies namely- Amgaon, Armori, Gadchiroli, Aheri, Bramhapuri and Chimur. A total of 84 tables have been set up for six assembly constituencies with 14 tables for each assembly constituency. Also, 12 tables for postal ballot counting and one table for Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System (ETPBS) has been kept ready.

There will be total 23 rounds of counting in Amgaon Assembly Constituency, 22 rounds in Armory, 26 rounds for Gadchiroli, 21 rounds for Aheri, 23 rounds for Bramhapuri and total 23 rounds of counting in Chimur Assembly Constituency. Along with this, verification of 5 VVPATs selected by lot from each assembly constituency will also be done.

Manpower has been assigned for each constituency and table wise for counting of votes and a total of 117 counting supervisors, 130 counting assistants, 120 micro inspectors and 101 other auxiliary staff have been appointed.

Each candidate will be able to appoint 97 representatives, one for each table for EVM counting, ETPBS and postal ballot paper counting.  A seat has been arranged for each candidate’s representative in the counting room.

A communication room for candidates’ representatives, media room for journalists and a room for candidates have been set up at the counting center and all the rooms are equipped. The entire area will be under CCTV control.

Generators have been arranged to ensure uninterrupted power supply.  The entire process of counting will be conducted transparently under the supervision of District Election Officer Sanjay Daine as well as two election observers appointed by the Election Commission of India, Deputy District Election Officer.

A three-tier security system is maintained at the counting station under the guidance of District Superintendent of Police Mr. Nilotpal.  Maharashtra Police Force, State Reserve Police Force and Central Reserve Police Force personnel are handling the security.

Mobile phones or any electronic item, as well as items prohibited by the Election Commission, are prohibited from being carried into the counting room.
