Gadchiroli Sept. 20 (District Correspondent) Movement for Justice and various social and political organizations in the district have strongly opposed the state government decision of handing over the govt. schools to corporate houses and private institutes.
These workers staged intensive demonstrations in front of the collector office here on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum to the Additional Collector addressed to the Chief minister.
The govt. decision to appoint select 9 external agencies to fill the posts of teachers and non-teaching staff in schools and junior colleges was also opposed by these organizations.
The decision to hand over the government schools to corporate groups is like outrightly selling these schools to corporates. ‘Education’ is the responsibility of the government under the provisions of the constitution to ensure that the backward class communities are not deprived of educational opportunities. However, the decision is a ploy to deprive the poor, farmers, workers, Bahujan students of the state from education and it is a violation of the fundamental rights given by the constitution to provide free and compulsory education to children up to the age of fourteen. The government should withdraw this decision immediately, it was demanded.
The state government has appointed 9 service providers to carry out the work of recruitments to fill up the posts of teachers and non-teaching staff in schools and colleges is also anti people. Due to this decision, the right of reservation given to the backward classes by the constitution will be affected. This decision should be revoked immediately as it prevents the eligible backward classes from joining teaching and non-teaching services, it was further demanded.
Recently Maharashtra Government had given the responsibility of conducting examination for various posts to external agencies. Many types of malpractices were seen in all these exams. Thousands of youths who worked hard and dreamt of their future have suffered due to this. The state government should take the responsibility of conducting the examination on its own instead of giving it to external agencies and ensure transparency in it, it was also demanded.
The state government always charges exorbitant fees in the form of recruitment fee. Many people living in rural areas cannot afford these fees.
The fees for all types of class 3 and 4 examinations should not exceed Rs.100.
Many examinees have requested for an examination center in their home district but they have been given an examination center in a far- away districts. Many poor and backward class youths cannot afford to travel such a long distance. The examination of the candidates should be held in the same district where they are located, it was demanded.
