Gadchiroli Feb. 16 (District Correspondent) Well known litterateur Dr. Pramod Munghate has been nominated on the General council of Sahitya AKademi, a national academy of literature, recently by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
The decision has been communicated to Dr. Munghate by Dr. K. Sheenivasarao, Secretary of the Akademi. The term of the General council will be for five. He is the third person from vidarbha region to have been nominated on this prestigious body.
A resident of Gadchiroli, Dr. Munghate is associated with the Dandakarnya Education Society, a reputed academic institute founded by late Govindrao Munghate which runs many educational institutions in the district.
Known for his progressive and straight forward thoughts, Dr. Munghate was the Head of Marathi Department in RSTM Nagpur University. Many of his articles have been published in the reputed newspapers. He is a good speaker also and has delivered lectures at different literary meets and social, academic programmes.
Dr. Munghate has expressed happiness over this nomination on the prestigious national institute and has desired to contribute in the functioning of the Akademi to the best of his ability. The first meeting of the Akademi is proposed to be held at New Delhi on March 11 next.
Dr. Munghate was felicitated by Vidarbha Gaurav Pratishthan and Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan, Nagpur recently in presence of noted author Prof. Suresh Dwadashiwar, Dr. Akshyakumar Kale and Dr. girish Gandhi on his nomination.
