Gadchiroli Oct. 30 (District Correspondent) Maharashtra Labor Welfare Board had organized awareness camp on Elimination of Superstition for women workers recently.
Ms. Sudhatai Choudhary, District Women Incharge of Maha Annis presided over the programme while Mr. Vilas Nimborkar, State Co-ordinator of Maha Annis Scientific Knowledge Education Project, Purushottam Thackeray, District Principal Secretary, Upendra Rohankar, City Working President and Ms. Deshmukh of Patanjali Seva Samiti were present as the chief guides.
Mr. Nimbokar informed about the work done by saints and social reformers for eradicating superstition. Mr. Thackeray opined that understanding the reasons behind miracles becomes easier if one adopts logic, inference, intuition, experiment and conclusion. Mr. Rohankar said magic, miracles, ghosts are all delusional notions. There is no truth in it. Cultivating superstitions stunts our progress.
Maharashtra Andhasraddha Nirmulan Samiti offers a reward of 25 lakhs to anyone who shows ghost or shows charisma of ghost or makes someone better with mantra. But no one has come forward to take up this challenge yet. He appealed not to fall into the trap of Mantriks or Babas.
All the functionaries of Maha Annis performed miracle-based demonstrations. Ms. Deshmukh said that a person should have faith but should not have blind faith. Women are more prone to this superstition. If children are not born, it is women who abuse women in the society. So women are ready to do anything to get a son and fall prey to sexual exploitation.
Ms. Sudhatai Choudhary, while giving presidential guidance, highlighted the problems of women and asserted that your future is bright only if you are careful from fake Babas and Mantriks and save from financial, mental and sexual exploitation.
Ms. Vandana Khobragade, Director of Maharashtra Labor Welfare Board, moderated the program and gave vote of thanks. A large number of women attended the event.
