Water is life, use it properly- Dr. Bhoyar advices farmers.

Gadchiroli Oct. 30 (District Correspondent) Deputy Director of Nagpur Divisional Groundwater Survey and Development Agency Chandrakant Bhoyar asserted that water is life and the farmers should keep in mind the mathematical formula of rain and make proper use of water.

He was speaking at the workshop organized by the Department of Geology and Groundwater Survey department under Unnat Bharat Mission at Shri Govindrao Munghate College of Arts and Science Kurkheda run by Dandakaranya Shikshan Sanstha the other day.

Dr. Rajabhau Munghate, President of the sanstha, presided while Mr. Chadramani Uke, Senior Geologist, Groundwater Survey, Bhandara, Dr. Varsha Mane, Senior Geologist, Dr. Abhijit Dharashivkar, Head of Geology Department of the College, Gunwant Wadapalliwar were prominently present. Dr. Sameer Deshmukh was honoured for his PhD and remarkable work.

Dr. Bhoyar gave extensive guidance to the farmers on how to keep themselves sustainable according to the changing climate and how to make progress through people’s participation by preparing the village water security plan. He appreciated Dr. Rajabhau Munghate for the good planning of the college and a national workshop on water literacy.

Dr. Rajabhau Munghate said that the college is connected with the farmers of the area and farmers and is committed for the overall development of the farmers. Many workshops have been organized for farmers in the past, various activities such as Vaidu meeting, beekeeping training, field visit of scientists to inform the farmers about water source, guidance on lumpy disease and vaccination in the college etc were also taken up.

In the technical session of the workshop, Dr. Chandrakant Bhoyar guided on Groundwater Sustainability, Dr. Gunwant Wadapalliwar on Geological Structure and Groundwater Availability of Kurkheda Taluka, Dr. Shivaji Padhane on Groundwater Conservation, while Dr. Varsha Mane on Ground water management and water balance, Dr. Nitin Patil on water supply scheme maintenance and repair, Dr. Abhijit Dharashivkar on Geology and various future opportunities. In the last session doubts of the participating farmetrs were cleared.

Introductory speech was made by Senior Geologist Dr. Abhijeet Dharashivkar, Prof. Dr. Narendra Arekar conducted the programme and Gunwant Vadapalliwar proposed the vote of thanks.

A large number of farmers from adopted villages as well as Geology students and geologists were present in the workshop. Geologist Vaibhav Srirame, Tukeshwar Sayam, Tushar Pakhale, Tushar Gote, Dr. Mrinalini Janak, Shirish Bagde, Mr. Balpande, Vice Principal P. S. Khope, Unnat Bharat Abhiyaan Coordinator Dr. Deepak Bansod, Village Coordinator Dr. Sanjay Mahajan, Dr. Ramesh Dani, Dr. Ravindra Vikhar, Dr. Nikesh Lokhande, Prof. Riya Kapkar, Dr. Rakhi Shambharkar, Dr. Sonal Bhoyar, Dr. Tupte, Dr. Raut and all the professors and Students cooperated a lot for the success of the workshop.
